Museo Casa Juan Zorrilla de San Martín

The museum is located in Punta Carretas neighborhood and was the writer’s summer house and his family. In this house, the poet received many visits from artists and politicians. 



Five years after the death of Juan Zorrilla de San Martín, the government took the house and turned it into a museum inaugurating it in the 3d November 1943. The 7th August 1975, the house was declared Cultural Heritage. 

The house has different objects, documents, archives that belong to the everyday life of the poet that describe the traditions, taste and beliefs. Also all the typical areas of the house are represented: living room, bedroom, chapel and patio that are also part of the tour. 

Temporary art exhibitions also are shown and also conferences open to the public.
